The emergency general assembly of the Supreme Council of Sufi Orders, chaired by Mohamed Alaa Madi Aboul Azayem, addressed several warnings to the Council itself, chaired by Sheikh el-Qasabi, and its secretary general, in order to allow the general assembly committee to run the Council's affairs. The general assembly has decided to withdraw its confidence in the current Council. Sheikh Mohamed el-Shahawi, a member of the general assembly and of this committee, said the five committee members had written a complaint at al-Gamaliya police station to be enabled to run the Council. He pointed out that, according to legal measures, the warnings must be first sent through a complaint and if the Council refuses to implement the decision, the members of the extraordinary general assembly will resort to the State Council. For his part, Supreme Committee member Mohamed Abdel Khalek el-Shabrawi said the decision to refer Council member Alaa Eddin Madi Aboul Azayem to security organs to be questioned is invalid. He affirmed that Sheikh Aboul Azayem is entrusted with running the Council's affairs until President Mubarak issues a decree appointing el-Qasby after his election. He added that al-Qasby's council made a terrible mistake when he decided to have investigations with Aboul Azayem. He explained that this decision would split the Sufis between Aboul Azayem's and al-Qasbi's fronts. Sheikh Aboul Azayem, though, said he had not heard about these investigations, pointing out that the Supreme Council had been dissolved by a decision of the emergency general assembly and that al-Qasbi could therefore not issue such a decree. Al-Qasbi's council had decided to refer Aboul Azayem to security organs after accusing him of spreading confusion and offending the Supreme Council of Sufi Orders.
