Sheikh Ala Eddin Madi Abul Azayem, member of the Supreme Council of Sufi Orders and currently competing for the Council chairmanship, said the general assembly of Sufi orders' sheikhdoms would be held in Cairo next Saturday evening to discuss the Council crisis and decide whether to hold a no-confidence vote against it following Sheikh Abdel Hadi el-Qasabi's declaration that he had been elected chairman. The sheikhdoms will also decide whether to choose a chargé d'affaires until the elections are over. Azayem also said the assembly would call for the formation of a new council from all Sufi orders. Abul Azayem told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the assembly would be held at the headquarters of one of these sheikhdoms, adding that this decision was taken after the secretary general made it impossible to hold such meeting at the General Sheikhdom's building. Abul Azayem also said he had sent a letter to the Supreme Council of Sufi Orders to call for the general assembly to be held, saying this was a legal measure. He affirmed that the general assembly is the Supreme Council's highest authority and that the Council's secretary general must carry out the minutes of the session, affirming that the sheikhdoms that sign the session itself can resort to justice if their decisions are not implemented. Meanwhile, general assembly member Sheikh Mohamed Abdel Maguid el-Sharbouni said that senior sheikhs of the Supreme Council of Sufi Orders filed a complaint to Shaikh Abul Azayem, as he is the oldest sheikh inside the Council. Sheikh Azayem was also asked to refer this complaint to the State Council, Sheikh el-Sharbouni said. He added that such complaint is about the conduct of Sheikh Mohamed el-Demerdesh (the legal advisor of the Supreme Council and the State Council), his bias in the minutes of November 25 session, his banning the Council member representing the Ministry of Endowments from voting, and his allowing the member representing the Ministry of Local Development to vote for Sheikh el-Qasabi. Sheikh el-Qasabi, for his part, refused to comment on the general assembly session.
