Chairman of Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Ahmed Fadil said the Egyptian seven maritime navigation companies, which have some 6,000 workers, would not be liquefied, even the three companies that incurred losses last year, namely Canal Company for Ports and Major Projects, Canal Ropes Company and the Maritime Construction Company. Fadil approved disbursing eight-month bonuses for the workers of all companies, including those who incurred losses. In a report to the chairman of the Egyptian Trade Union Hussein Megawer, the head of Ismailia Trade Union Mohamed Attiya said Fadil issued a decree on forming a committee of advisors of SCA and the union organization to know why the three companies, which have 2200 workers, incurred losses so as to preserve the workers' rights. In addition, Fadil issued a decree on increasing the extraordinary effort allowance for those companies' workers from 50% to 100% of the basic salary. He also doubled the food allowance and increased the annual bonuses from six months to nine months of the basic salary. The workers will also get bonuses in feasts and on religious and national occasions, he added.
