Al-Masry Al-Youm got a copy of the medical report issued by Wadi Al-Nil Hospital on the condition of Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh Dr. Mohamed Sayed Tantawi. The report, which was sent to the Presidency yesterday, said that the clinical tests found an imbalance in the movement of the left leg, and that the CAT scan showed no clots in the brain. It also said that the Grand Sheikh underwent the necessary treatment of blood liquidity, and that his physiotherapy improved his condition.
Tantawi was hospitalized last Thursday suffering from a movement imbalance. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif yesterday visited Tantawi in hospital and wished him a speedy recovery.
In a related development, Vice-President of Al-Azhar University Dr. Ezz Eddin el-Sawi, who is supervising the treatment, said that Tantawi is improving by the day, and that he walked down and up the stairs outside his room. He said that the final diagnosis detected an inflammation of the leg nerves, and that there was no stroke as some papers said, confirming that Tantawi would leave the hospital tomorrow to start work as normal next week.
