Poor Victim of Terrorism Paid a Farewell by Egyptians. Marwa''s Funeral in Alexandria Participated by Armies of People. Raised Anger against Germany and Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 07 - 07 - 2009

Yesterday, in a solemn funeral, thousands of the inhabitants of the Egyptian governorate of Alexandria paid Marwa al-Sherbeini the last honors. Due to her wearing of the veil (Hijab), poor Marwa was assassinated by a radical German of Russian origin inside one of the German courts, last Wednesday. The day before yesterday, many of the people went to Cairo Airport to receive her body, they raised banners with only one question painted on them: "what was her fault?!!!"

The funeral, which stepped out of al-Ka'ed Ibrahime Mosque in the area of Mohatet al-Ramel, turned out to be an angry demonstration against Germany. However, many of the demonstrators angrily criticized the weak situation, as well as the weak performance of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs towards the incident.
On the other hand, both Alexandria's Governor and the Egyptian Minister of Communications and Labor Force participated in the funeral. Moreover, the funeral was participated by a large crowd of Egyptian MPs, members of the State Consultative Council and a number of executive and parliamentary leaders, who expressed their firm belief in the fact that Marwa shall be calculated by God as a martyr.
On his part, the victim's brother, Engineer Tarek el-Sherbini accused the Egyptian Embassy in Germany for not undertaking its due role after the incident, seeing its diplomatic performance as very weak.

A short time before the funeral, el-Sherbini said further, patience policy adopted by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs towards the incident would waste the rights of each one who was killed after my sister. He added, this was a very good chance to prove who the real terrorists were; a chance to prove that violence had been their own creation (referring to the western countries).
In a related development, the family of the victim establishes a mourning tent today, in Kafr Shereif, Dakahlia, hometown of her father.

In addition to that, crowds of Egyptian security forces surrounded yesterday the German Embassy's building located in Hassan Sabry Street, Zamalek. At the same time and in solidarity with the victim, political activists planned to hold a demonstration in front of the embassy today.
Yet, hundreds of pharmacists protested in front of the Pharmacists' Syndicate, demanding punishment of the murderer of their colleague, who had been graduated from the College of Pharmacy.
