"Mansour" Inspects Alexandria Transport Projects and Opens Sidi Gaber Station
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 05 - 07 - 2009

Mohamed Mansour, Minister of Transport, inspected a number of transport projects in Alexandria. He was accompanied by Maj. Gen. Adel Labib, Alexandria Governor, and Mahmoud Sami, head of the Egyptian National Railways (ENR).
On the sidelines of the tour yesterday morning, Mansour said he would inaugurate Sidi Gaber Station and "Kilo 100 Lock" mid 2010, at a total cost of LE 400 million.

Mansour started his tour by inspecting the operational work of developing Sidi Gaber Station at a cost of LE 70 million.

Sidi Gaber station has a special nature. Therefore, the development work reflects this nature among the people of the governorate and the visitors, of various nationalities, to the shores of Alexandria.

The station will have a two-story mall and a four-story garage accommodating 700 cars. 40% of the mall was established, Mansour added.
After that, Minister Mansour inspected Wadi An-Natroun railroad crossing at kilometer 107 on Al-Kabary-Marsa Matrouh railway line. The crossing will be developed as of next October at a cost of LE 750,000. Mansour also inspected the work of securing traffic safety on the 404 km coastal road, some 267 km from Alexandria to Matrouh and 137 km from Wadi An-Natroun to Al-Alamien.
Mansour also inspected Al-Alamien toll station, which leads to the desert road via Wadi An-Natroun road at a length of 136 km. He inspected the development work at the fourth part of Cairo-Alexandria desert road, 126 kilometers from Alexandria. The road is developed by the General Nile Company for Road Construction, which is owned by the Ministry of Transport.
The development of Cairo-Alexandria desert road is tantamount to the establishment of a new road achieving the maximum degree of safety for travelers. It will contribute to reducing traffic density on the adjacent roads.

During his six-hour tour, Mansour inspected the work of establishing the "Kilo 100 Lock" on Nubariya canal, Al-Nahda district. The project will cost LE 322 million. The lock, 40% of which has been established since October 2007, is expected to be opened mid 2010.

The new lock aims to increase river navigation between the Port of Alexandria, Cairo and Upper Egypt. This project comes within the framework of dredging Cairo-Alexandria navigation road at a length of 220 km, and Cairo-Aswan navigation road at a length of 960 km.
