Wahid, Salama, Metawe, El-Qaeed, Asfour, Darwish, El-Qimni, Hanafi, Qassem and Nomaan Win the State Awards

Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni yesterday announced the names of the winners of the State Incentive and Appreciation Awards in arts and literature.
Filmmaker Wahid Hamed, Composer Gamal Salama and Filmmaker Hany Metawe won the Appreciation Award in arts, amounting to LE 200,000.
Writer Youssef el-Qaeed, Dr. Ahmed Darwish and Dr. Gaber Asfour won the Appreciation Award in literature.
Sayed el-Qimni, Hassan Hanafi, Qassem Abdou Qassem and Na'amat Ahmed Fouad won the Mubarak Award in social sciences.
Trilling cries of joy were heard at the Supreme Council of Culture when Asfour won the award unanimously.
The Supreme Council of Culture withheld 14 out of 32 Incentive Awards in four fields.
Ibrahim Helmy won the LE 50,000 Incentive Award in arts for his study of a traditional Egyptian popular handicraft. Mohamed Sherif Mohi Eddin won it for his chamber music. Mohamed Abdel Fattah el-Sayed won it for his study of a film director. Dr. Samir el-Sayed Shahin won it for his theatre costumes. Dr. Mahmoud Mabrouk Mahmoud won it for his projects on museum coordination. Dr. Hamdi Sadiq Abul Maati won it for his zinc-lithographic engravings on wood, while two awards in the same field were withheld.
Five literature awards were withheld.
Nagwa el-Sayed Atallah won a literature award for her colloquial poems. Dr. Wafa Hassan Fouad Faridoun won it for her music for children. Zakaria Mohamed Abdel Ghani Hassan won it for his experimental novel.
Two awards in social sciences were withheld.
Dr. Atef Motamad Abdel Hamid won an award in geography. Gamal Mohamed Gheitas won it for scientific culture. Jehan Mahmoud el-Sayed Ahmed won it for media and communication in Egypt. Dr. Mohamed Sabri el-Daly won it for antiquities and history. Dr. Said Amin Mohamed Nassif won it for post-industrial society. Dr. Gomaa Sayed Youssef Nasr and Azza Abdel Karim Mabrouk won it in psychology and health.
Five awards were withheld in economic and legal sciences.
Mohamed Metwalli el-Sayed Youssef won an award in public policies. Dr. Mohamed Ashour Mahdi Ashour won it in international relations. Zaki Zaki Hussein Zedan won it in Islamic law.
Those who won the award of excellence in arts were Dr. Ashraf Zaki and Filmmaker Abdel Rahman el-Shafei.
Dr. Raga Yaqout and the late writer Youssef Abu Raya won an award in arts, while Dr. Mohamed Afifi, Dr. Mossad Eweys and Amin Shalabi won it in social sciences.
