Mosul (Iraq) - The ISIS militants reportedly started digging trenches inside and around the Northern Iraqi town of Tal Afar as the Iraqi government forces prepare for a major assault on the terror group there. The ISIS leadership has also put its militants on alert, warning them about Iraqi army's assault at any given moment, a local source said, BASNews reported. Tal Afar, located some 65 kilometers West of Mosul, has remains under the control of ISIS up to the moment with Iraqi troops and popular commitiees awaiting an attack command to storm the city. The local sources said trenches are intended to deescalate military advances by the Iraqi army at the time of an imminent confrontation. Last week, the Iraqi volunteer forces carried out a military operation East of Tal Afar, West of Mosul as part of reinforcements in preparation to invade the town.
