Cairo – Egypt's Al-Azhar's Grand Imam Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb called for an emergency meeting on Tuesday by its Council of Senior Scholars to discuss the recent violations of the Israeli occupation forces in Al-Aqsa Mosque. The meeting is set to discuss how the situation has been escalated into a deadly conflict in the holy site as well the subsequent violations against the defenseless Palestinian people and Islamic holy sites over the past few days. The high-level council will also discuss the role of Muslim scholars in counteracting the continued Zionist attempts to Judaize Jerusalem and to separate Al-Aqsa Mosque both temporally and spatially from its rightful owners. Recently, there have been malicious attempts to wield control over the Al-Haram Al-Sharif. Home to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock, it is Islam's third-holiest site after Makkah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia. Jews revere the site of Al-Haram Al-Sharif, where the two Jewish temples stood in biblical times, as the Temple Mount. It is the holiest site in Judaism and the nearby Al-Buraq Wall is the holiest place where Jews can pray.
