Cairo - President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi chaired, on Monday, the meeting of the Supreme Council for Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy with the attendance of all its members and Director of Dabaa Nuclear Plant Project. During the meeting, the strategies and mechanisms of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority were reviewed as well as the latest developments regarding negotiations of establishing and operating the nuclear power plant in Al-Dabaa city in Mersa Matruh governorate, Presidential Spokesperson Alaa Yousef said. The spokesperson added that the meeting also discussed ways to develop the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in light of its contribution to provide the energy needed to implement economic and social development plans over the coming decades. During the meeting, the President stressed the need to maximize the benefits of the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in the light of its increasing contributions in various fields such as industry, agriculture, and medicine, as well as electricity generation. He also stressed the importance of achieving optimum utilization of nuclear plant establishment project to generate electricity in Dabaa, Yousef added.
