Abidjan - Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said, on Monday, recent measures taken by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain against Qatar came after the four states verified that Doha was continuing its policies of interfering in other countries' affairs and supporting terrorism. "As we regret these measures against Qatar, we want to stress that the decision came after we made sure that Qatar was continuing its practices of interfering in the affairs of other countries, strenuously seeking to undermine security and spread chaos in our societies, financing terrorist and extremist organizations, harboring fugitives and promoting the extremist jihadists thoughts that harmed out Islamic societies," Shoukry told the 44th meeting of the ministerial council of the Organization of Islamic Organization (OIC) in Abidjan. The Minister added that these accusations were confirmed by reports issued by a Libyan sanctions committee, which contained evidences that Qatar was involved in spreading chaos, smuggling weapons and providing financial, logistic and intelligence support for extremist and terrorist groups in Libya. The foreign minister said "it is no secret that our organization (OIC) and nation are going through critical phase. "Terrorism, with its catastrophic repercussions, which has become a threat to people around the world, especially ours, is the biggest danger that requires us to study how to uproot it," the top diplomat added at the 44th meeting of the ministerial council of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He asserted that thwarting the attempts of the terrorist organizations to recruit new fighters should be done at the ideological level.
