Cairo - Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain announced they have received Qatar's response to their demands to end a diplomatic crisis. They said they would respond to it in due time. In a statement issued late Tuesday, they said: "The four countries have received the Qatari reply through the State of Kuwait, before the end of the additional deadline, which was granted under the request of the Emir of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahamd Al Jaber Al Sabah. It will be responded to in due time." The foreign ministers from the four Arab countries will meet in Cairo later on Wednesday 5/7/2017 to discuss the next move. The four nations had issued a 13-point list of demands on June 22, giving Qatar 10 days to comply. They later extended the deadline to Wednesday at the request of Kuwait, who is leading mediation efforts. On June 5, the four countries broke off diplomatic relations and communication with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism and interfering in their internal affairs. Later, the Maldives, Mauritius, and Mauritania also announced the severance of diplomatic relations. Jordan and Djibouti reduced the level of their diplomatic missions in Qatar. Last week, Kuwait, which has been acting as mediator, handed the demands of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain over to Doha. The requests include the severance of Qatar's relations with Iran, closure of Turkey's military base on Qatar's territory and a shutdown of the Al Jazeera TV channel. Doha was given 10 days to implement the demands, the deadline expired on Sunday. Qatar has called the conditions impossible and urged for their revision.
