Cairo - Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have collectively designated 69 individuals and 12 institutions that have financed terrorist organizations and received support from Qatar in the past. The list includes 26 Egyptian citizens living abroad. One of them is Tarek al-Zumar. He is an Egyptian Islamist politician and the secretary-general of the Building and Development Party. The party also has a non-political wing named al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya. He was also a member of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. His cousin is Abbud al-Zumar, who was imprisoned along with him. Zumar was imprisoned in 1984 following the assassination of Anwar Sadat and was released in 2011. On 14 July 2013 Egypt's Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat ordered his assets to be frozen. He has fled to Qatar. He was elected as the new secretary general for Building and Development party in June 2013. He was re-elected to the same post last May.
