Cairo - The Board of Directors of the National Media Authority in Egypt denounced the non-objective Qatari media practices that harm Egyptian and Arab national security and support terrorism. The denouncement came during a meeting of the National Media Authority on Wednesday chaired by Ismail Shashtawi, the authority's deputy, on behalf of Hussein Zein, head of the National Media Authority. The board reviewed the recent efforts to improve the performance of the authority's radios and screens and reviewed the problems and obstacles facing work in order to improve the performance of the Authority's sectors. Cairo accused several websites and channels, some of them are Qatari or funded by Qatar, of defaming Egypt carrying out a hostile fierce media campaign against the country since relations between Cairo and Doha soured in 2013. Last Monday, Egypt and three Gulf states cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, citing support of terrorism.
