Cairo - Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has met with the African Union (AU)'s High Representative for the Peace Fund Donald Kaberuka. During the meeting, Shoukry and Kaberuka discussed ways to maximize resources of the AU budget and reform its administrative structure to achieve aspirations of the African continent's peoples, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement on Sunday. Egypt supports the ongoing reform process at the AU, which in turn could help carry out its responsibilities to the priorities approved by African states, Abu Zeid added. Also, the two officials touched on a decision, issued in the 27th AU Summit held in Kigali in July 2016, on a motion to allocate new resources to increase the AU budget, and the 25% planned contribution of African countries, in addition to strengthening the joint responsibility of African states and the international community in maintaining peace and security in the continent, Abu Zeid noted.
