Minya (Upper Egypt)- The Archbishop of Maghagha and Adwa in Minya, Father Agathon said that Adwa incident is a heinous crime that does not only target Copts but rather, the Egyptian state as a whole. During a phone call with the Coptic channel, Marmorkos, he stated, ‘'The injured victims told us that while they were on their way to St. Samuel Monastery, they were followed by two 4 x 4 cars driven by masked men who targeted the two buses; one coming from Ezbit Hana El Fashn, and a microbus coming from Beni Mazar. There was also a truck coming from Maghagha. He continued, "They asked the passengers if they were Christians and when passengers affirmed, the gunmen opened fire on the men instantly killing them and stole money and jewelry from women and killed some of them. The truck coming from Maghagha carried 16 of the monastery's farmers and carpenters and they were all killed. The injured were transferred to hospitals in Maghagha, Adwa and Beni Mazar.'' He also pointed out that there are a lot of injured passengers in Maghagha hospital, while some of the severely injured are in the Nasser Institute Hospital in Cairo. On Friday, gunmen attacked a group of Egyptian Christians, who were travelling to the monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor in Minya governorate ( 245 km south of Cairo), killing 29 people and wounding 25 others.
