The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) condemns the terrorist attack that took place on Friday near Minya, by using "the firmest terms possible", an attack which led to the loss of human lives and numerous persons injured, and expressed its deep regret and solidarity towards the Egyptian people, as well as towards the Christian Coptic community, who were "recent victims of some savage acts." The MAE sent condolences to the families of those affected following this act of an extreme violence and expressed the hope for a fast recovery of the people injured, according to a MAE release sent to AGERPRES. Moreover, the MAE reconfirms Romania's firm commitment, as part of the international efforts destined to fight all forms of terrorism, considering that there cannot be any ideological, religious, political, racial, ethnic or any other reason for justifying such acts, the quoted source reveals. At least 23 persons were killed and 25 injured in an armed attack over some Coptic Christians in the South of Egypt, announced the Governor of Minya province, where the tragedy occurred, announced according to Reuters. According to the state television, a bus transporting Egyptian Christians was attacked by armed men. The bus was headed towards Anba Samuel Monastery, located near Minya, which has a numerous population of Coptic Christians.
