Egyptian Feminist Union held an Arab conference to discuss laws of personal status in participation with Cairo University, as they focused on laws ruling social and legal issues related to divorce including child custody and visitation rights, and it introduced new bill as an alternative to the current Personal Status law. It is worth to mention that the conference is part of the Egyptian Feminist Union campaign to change and reform laws of Personal Status in a way that achieve justice, equality and the best interest for the family and more importantly for the child. The new bill introduced by the Union was made by its legal department which was introduced to some members of Egypt parliament, and even was put for public debate through several seminars and meeting in Egyptian provinces. Many Arab delegations participate in the conference to show laws of personal status in their countries and putting them for discussion. Not only were those, but also experts from different Arab and Egyptian feminist organizations were engaged in the meeting. This conference came as part of a series of conferences that were held for discussing nations' experiences in amending laws of personal Status. Adding to this, the Union cooperated with National Council for Human Rights in many events that were held for discussing laws of personal status.
