A US delegation from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checked on Tuesday security measures at Egyptian airports for flights heading to the United States. TSA delegation started checking the airport security measures, especially Egypt Air flights heading to New York، according to informed sources. The sources، which asked to remain anonymous، revealed that the delegation arrived in Cairo on Monday، in order to check the security measures at a number of Egyptian airports. The delegation began inspecting security measures related to passengers، luggage and packages، as part of the US annual inspection of flights heading from Cairo to New York، the sources added. TSA delegation will meet with a number of senior Egyptian civil aviation officials responsible for security measures at airports، the sources added. US, Russia and other European countries have issued bans on flights from and to Sinai، after a Russian passenger plane was downed over Sinai، in October 2015 ، leaving the entire flight crew members and passengers on board dead. The total number of tourists who visited Egypt amounted to 640179 tourists in February 2016، according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). Egypt has been trying to boost tourism sector by organizing visits by celebrities including famous American actor Will Smith, Spanish club Barcelona star Lionel Messi, who took private tours of the pyramids, and Indian actress Parineeti Chopra visited Luxor tourist attractions in March.
