Cairo - Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will head for Brussels on Sunday to promote consultation mechanisms and coordinate with the EU officials as part of Egypt's continued efforts to enhance cooperation with its strategic partners. The foreign minister will hold an important meeting with the 28 EU foreign ministers to discuss strategic ties between the two sides, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on Saturday. The move will come as part of the EU-Egypt Association Agreement, which represents a general framework for Egypt's ties with the European institutions within the upcoming three years, said the spokesman. Shoukry's meeting with his European counterparts is expected to tackle the latest developments in Egypt, especially the economic reform program which is adopted by the Egyptian government along with the crucial economic decisions taken over the past period, according to the spokesman. Shoukry will also meet with European Commission's high representative for foreign affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini, said the spokesman, adding that the foreign minister will also meet with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium Didier Reynders to discuss ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in the various spheres.
