Moscow - Kremlin press service said that Russian president 'Vladimir Putin' and Egypt's President 'Abdel Fattah Sisi' discussed in phone talks on Wednesday the progress in strengthening security at Egyptian airports and expressed hope for expedient resumption of air travel between the two countries. The Kremlin press service said "The leaders noted the progress in joint efforts by Russian and Egyptian experts and security personnel aimed at strengthening flight and airport security, which could expedite the resumption in near future of regular air travel between Moscow and Cairo." Russia suspended flights to and from Egypt after an Airbus A321 plane flying to St. Petersburg crashed on the Sinai Peninsula soon after taking off from Sharm El-Sheikh on October 31, 2015, killing all 224 people aboard. In October, Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said that a decision on the resumption of the Egypt-Russia air travel might be taken before the end of 2016.
