Universities on alert to face Muslim Brotherhood violence

The government looks forward to a stable academic year that achieves the targets of the educational process, said al-Sayed Abdul Khaliq Minister of Higher Education during media statement on Saturday.
The academic year started today the Egyptian governmental universities is receiving 1.6 million students. The completion of school schedules announcement and the implementation of students' housing program in dorms are expected to take place on this coming Monday.
Khaliq stressed the need that all universities' leaders, academic staff and assistant staff should be present starting from the first day of the academic year to guarantee that the educational process is taking the right path.
He explained that it is important that those who are in charge should encourage student activities in sports, cultural, artistic and social areas. He also noted the necessity of supporting the dialogue between students and the academic staff.
Khaliq demanded leaders of universities to exert all efforts and not to allow violations to take place like what happened during the past year. He stressed that no student will be allowed to disrupt the educational process. He also confirmed that the practices of political activities inside universities are banned.
The minister emphasized that if any member of the academic staff got involved in riots or any violence acts, he will be referred to the disciplinary board, and according to law, he will be dismissed from his job if he was proved that he is convicted.
Khaliq added that a security system is being formed to face riots and to secure universities. He explained that contracts are signed with administrative security companies to provide universities with security men, surveillance cameras, armored gates, and to organize the entry of students to universities and dorms using magnetic cards.
