"The media exaggeration in speaking about the presence of Da'ish in Egypt serves the policy of demonizing the Islamists and creating fears of them. Da'ish provides a model which amply serves this policy. Further, the crimes Da'ish commits against Muslims and non-Muslims are sufficient to cause revulsion and hatred of anything that has to do with Islam. It is a very dangerous tactic to spotlight the crimes of Da'ish and insinuate explicitly or tacitly that all Islamic activists support it. Those who use this tactic to discredit political Islam do not realize that it does not only create revulsion against religiousness among the new generations, but also makes them shift to the ranks of atheists. This phenomenon now exists in Egypt in a way that cannot be denied." Veteran Egyptian writer Fahmi Huwaydi in private Al-Shorouk daily, August 23.
