Russia plans to complete the delivery to Egypt of a batch of 28 President-S onboard defense systems by July this year, Director General of Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies (KRET) Nikolai Kolesov reported on Wednesday.
"This June or July we plan to complete the delivery of the first 28 systems, they want to order an additional 30 systems in April-May," he said.
The contract on the supply of the President-S onboard defense system was signed with Egypt last year. The exact number of the systems to be supplied was not disclosed then.
Russia to supply President-S onboard defense systems to Algeria, India, Belarus
Russia has signed contracts on the supply of the President-S onboard defense systems to Algeria, India and Belarus, Kolesov went on to say.
"We'll deliver 12 systems to Belarus, five systems so far to India, and information about Algeria is closed yet," he said.
According to Kolesov, the term of the contracts is three years.
The onboard defense system is designed to protect planes and helicopters from being hit by missiles, air defense and anti-aircraft artillery. The defense system is currently installed on Ka-52, Mi-28 and Mi-26 helicopters.
The system automatically detects the threat of attack on the defended aircraft by the enemy's fighters, air defense missiles and artillery systems. It is capable of hitting and jamming optical homing devices of aircraft and air defense guided missiles, including homing devices of man-portable air-defense system missiles.
