The number of killed in the rocket attack that hit El-Safa security checkpoint, south El-Arish rose from four to nine, including four security officers who had been initially injured, security sources said Saturday. According to the sources, the Egyptian checkpoint was shelled by several mortars and RPGs, causing a huge explosion. Apache helicopters hovered over the scene of the attack and ambulances transported three injured and nine dead to the nearest hospital. This attack is the last among a series of terrorist blasts that have targeted army and police centers in the Sinai Peninsula, most of which were claimed by Wilayat Sinai group, the main militant group active in North Sinai which has pledged allegiance to Islamic State in 2014.
