A bomb targeting a security patrol exploded late Wednesday in the North Sinai's Al-Arish city, leaving no casualties or injuries. Security sources said that unidentified perpetrators planted an IED on a back street behind Al-Arish police station. The explosion only caused a loud noise and thick smoke. Bomb disposal experts intensified their presence in the blast scene to scan the area for other potential threats. Egypt's army has been fighting a militant insurgency in North Sinai that has lead to the death of hundreds of Egyptian security forces and militants.
