Egyptian MP Okasha meets Israeli ambassador over GERD crisis

Egyptian MP Tawfik Okasha hosted Israeli ambassador to Cairo, Haim Koren, for a dinner at his house Wednesday evening, Al-Bawaba News reported on Thursday.
The Egyptian parliamentarian has invited the Israeli ambassador to discuss the option of Israeli mediation in Egypt's dispute with Ethiopia over the establishment of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
The meeting outraged many Egyptian MPs who claimed that Okasha infringed on the declared policy of the Egyptian parliament which opposes normalization with Israel. Two MPs submitted a request to Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel-Al to cancel Okasha's membership in parliament.
