Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) held on Saturday evening a round-table discussion about the crises faced by the printed press in Egypt, entitled "Social Networks Threaten the Crown of Journalism", Al Bawaba News reported Sunday. The participants included Tarek Tahir, editor-in-chief of Akhbar Al-Adab, Amr El-Deeb, editor of Al-Akhbar state-run newspaper, and writer Soher Al-Mosadfa who chaired the discussion. Taher said that they discussed a future issue that we cannot assure in the present, indicating that the printed press' relation with media websites is controversial at the moment. Some major countries such as USA and France have closed a number of newspapers because of the huge decline of their followers, stressing that the situation in Egypt is very different, Taher added.
