China teams up with Russia to back Assad regime

On Friday the Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem said that international efforts to end the conflict in Syria should focus on preventing insurgents coming in from neighbouring Turkey and Jordan.
Syrian state media, which reported the comments Moualem made after meeting Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi during a visit to Beijing, quoted him as saying he stressed the need to "implement U.N. Security Council resolutions on fighting terror".
Also on Friday, China offered to host talks between the Syrian government and opposition groups as a step forward in the peace process. Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a statement that China would invite President Bashar al-Assad's government representatives , as well as opposition groups that are not linked with extremist or terrorist activities to the talks.
Both China and Syria see that implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on eradicating the terrorism roots, which is considered a fundamental factor to realize progress in solving the Syria crisis politically, according to the foreign minister.
In an exclusive interview with Xinhua, Minister al-Moualem said that both Syria and China have a similar stance on anti-terrorism and both back a political settlement of the Syria crisis,also add that his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday was fruitful and constructive.
