As part of comprehensive armament plans for the Egyptian Armed Forces, the Commander of the Naval Forces Osama Rabie received Thursday the first modern Egyptian "209/1400" submarine manufactured by German shipping group "ThyssenKrupp", according to military spokesperson Ahmed Samir. In a statement released on Samir's official Facebook page, Rabie said the new submarine serves as a huge technological addition to the naval forces, and supports its ability to protect the Egyptian territorial waters. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Inspector of German Navy, Vice Admiral Rainer Brinkmann, Egyptian ambassador to Germany Badr Abdel Atty, and a number of senior German and Egyptian military officials.
