Egypt's cabinet approved Wednesday President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's decree law of anti-illegal immigration and smuggling, Al-Bawaba News reported Wednesday. The government will form a national committee to combat and prevent illegal immigration, tasked to cooperate with judicial and security authorities to combat activities and crimes of smuggling through the exchange of information and offering assistance. According to the new law, whoever exits or attempts to exit the country to any other place regionally, internationally or continentally, without authorisation or license from respective authorities, to be fined between EGP 200 and EGP 2,000. The law stipulates a penalty of up to life in prison or a fine up to EGP 200,000 if the human trafficking process is organized by a group known for implementing a "terrorist target" or if a migrant dies.
