The General Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces issued a statement shortly after the two explosions which targeted the elections judges in North Sinai's Al-Arish and left many casualties early Tuesday. A Takfiri element was driving a Hyundai Verna car and went on near Swiss Inn Hotel in Al-Arish, housing the judicial committee supervising the parliamentary elections in the city, according to the statement. Once the car bomb approached the hotel, the armed forces and police obstructed it, and opened fire on the car which led it to explode, killing the suicide bomber. Two other Takfiri elements wearing explosive belts managed to enter the hotel, one of them blew himself up in the kitchen, and the other opened fire randomly on the rooms of the judges. The Preliminary investigation showed the murder of all the Takfiri elements involved in this terrorist act, two police soldiers and a judge were killed, while at least 12 others from the police and armed forces were injured. This brutal incident was a failed attempt to prevent the state from completing the establishment of its institutions, rather it will increase our determination to uproot terrorism in Sinai regardless of the sacrifices, the statement read. We offer our sincere condolences to the families of our martyrs and wish the injured a fast recovery.
