Egypt's Foreign Minister has deprecated the comments of Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Ban Ki-moon, regarding the custody of journalist and human rights defender, Hossam Bahgat, ONA agency reported Tuesday. "The UN has rushed in their conclusion and built their results upon individual cases, which may falsely indicate that Egypt doesn't respect freedom of speech," spokesperson of the foreign ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said. Abu Zeid pointed out that the UN should be concerned about systematic violations by some countries against other countries, urging the UN Secretary-General to fact-check. Abu Zeid affirmed that the Egyptian authorities respect the law and constitution, pointing out that Bahgat is pending investigation custody. Bahgat is being held in custody since Sunday, over accusations of spreading false news, which leads to peace disorder.
