British Prime Minister David Cameron said he plans to call Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss air safety with regard to the Russian A321 passenger crash in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula on October 31. On October 31, an Airbus A321 operated by Russian airline Kogalymavia, crashed in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula. All 224 people on board were killed in what has become the largest civil aviation disaster in Russian and Soviet history. "As I say, we cannot be certain that the Russian airliner was brought down by a terrorist bomb, but because it's a strong possibility, it's right to act, it's right to act quickly, it's right to act on the advice that we receive, it's right to act on the intelligence that we have. We've discussed this with others in Europe, we've discussed this with the Americans, I'll be calling President Putin in a moment or two to discuss this with him as well, but my view is that my job is to take the action necessary to protect the interests of British citizens and British lives," Cameron said on BBC. On Wednesday, the UK government concluded that the Russian A321 passenger plane, en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg, might have crashed on October 31 due to a bomb explosion, and suspended all flights to and from the Egyptian city until additional security measures were taken. Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has already criticized London's decision to suspend air traffic, labeling the move premature.
