President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi welcomed Tuesday EU foreign affairs head, Federica Mogherini, at presidential headquarters, to discuss ways of strengthening relations between both sides, Al Bawaba News reported. Spokesman for presidency, Ambassador Alaa Youssef announced that Mogherini stressed that her visit to Egypt comes within the framework of strengthening Egyptian-European partnership. Youssef pointed out that she expressed her eagerness to improve on the existing relations between Egypt and the institutions of the European Union. She congratulated Al Sisi on holding the parliamentary elections and expressed her hope for the elections to succeed, so that Egypt's parliament can resume relations with the European Parliament. Furthermore, she congratulated the president on the country's succeeding in acquiring the membership of the UN Security Council for the years 2016-2017. The EU foreign affairs head expressed her eagerness to continue the coordination between the two sides about various issues addressed by the European Council. The Spokesman added that the president stressed on the effective partnership between Egypt and EU, noting that the formation of the new parliament will contribute to the enrichment of parliamentary relations between the two sides.
