In News Egyptian President to Attend India-Africa Summit The Indian media reported that President el-Sisi would arrive in India to attend the 3rd India-Africa Summit Forum, as Cairo was ready to boost ties with New Delhi in different sectors. During his meeting with Prime Minister Modi on the sidelines of 70th UN General Assembly in New York last month, the powerful Egyptian president had said that he would urge northern African countries and the Arab world to maintain close ties with India. Earlier, el-Sisi had decided to send his representative to India for attending the Summit. However, he changed the decision after his meeting with Prime Minister Modi. Sisi's presence in New Delhi will have a greater political implication, as his visit will take place after the end of long overdue Parliamentary Elections in Egypt on October 23. The Alliance, which was created following the removal of Mohamed Mursi in July 2013 called on supporters of Mursi to boycott the elections. Alexandria is among 14 governorates where elections will be held in the first phase of voting. It officially starts on Saturday until Sunday.
