Sources revealed that the Egyptian armed forces discovered a weapons store related to Wilayat Sinai terrorist group, Al Bawba News reported Friday. The sources pointed out that the store includes Russian Kornet missiles, noting that Kornet is an anti-tank and aircrafts missile. They added that Kornet missiles are used in North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries tanks, pointing out that there is no such advanced missiles in Middle East armies except in Iran and Syria. The sources claimed that Iran gave the missiles to Hamas movement in Gaza, which smuggled them from Gaza to Sinai in order to be used in terrorist attacks against the armed forces in the North Sinai. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against Wilayat Sinai, formerly known as Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis, after it claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel. In 2014, the group announced its allegiance to Islamic State (IS) jihadist group.
