German Chancellor, Angela Merkel sent Friday her condolences to Saudi King, Salman bin Abdul Aziz, after stampede accident which took place in Mena and left more than 700 pilgrims dead, Al Bawaba News reported. Merkel wrote in a telegram to the Saudi king, "I learned with sorrow of the painful incident, which occurred near Mecca during Hajj, which claimed the lives of many people. I would like to express my deep sympathy for the victims," expressing wishes for swift recovery for all the wounded. Saudi Arabia reported that the number of victims reached 717 pilgrims and more than 800 pilgrims were injured, but the cause of the tragic incident is not clear, despite several hours passed after the tragedy.
