The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, has received a request from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to hold an emergency meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the OIC member states to discuss Israeli violations in the occupied city of Al-Quds and ways to stop the Israeli aggressions on Al-Aqsa Mosque. OIC Secretary-General, Iyad Ameen Madani, welcomed the call of Saudi Arabia to hold the meeting, and stressed that it reflects the high priority and attention ascribed to the Palestinian Cause by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Madani added that the Secretariat is coordinating closely with member states to hold the meeting in New York during the United Nations General Assembly. He emphasised that the meeting is an urgent necessity in light of the continuous Israeli aggressions against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Israeli scheme to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque temporally and spatially. Meanwhile, member states, notably Palestine, have welcomed the call of Saudi Arabia for this emergency ministerial meeting. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait, whose country chairs the current session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, CFM, has been following up with the concerned parties regarding holding the meeting at the earliest possible time.
