Egypt's new PM Sharif Ismail will merge eight ministries in his cabinet to ensure proper coordination of duties and better service, according to a governmental source, Al-Bawaba News reported Wednesday. Ismail decided to combine the ministry of urban development with the ministry of housing, and the ministry of population with the ministry of health. He also intended to make a major change in education sector by merging the ministry of scientific research with the ministry of higher education, and the ministry of technical education with the ministry of education. President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi tasked on Saturday the outgoing oil minister Sharif Ismail with forming the new cabinet within a week, after he had accepted the resignation of PM Ibrahim Mahlab's government.
