President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Jakarta, the first an Egyptian president has paid to Indonesia since 1983, reflected Egypt's keenness to strengthen the political, economic and cultural relations with the largest Muslim country in terms of population. Sisi's meeting with the Indonesian President Joko Widodo confirmed the two sides' desire to coordinate in trade and investment fields, as well as correcting the misconceptions of the Islam and fighting against terrorism and extremism. The President stressed on the importance to confront terrorism through a comprehensive strategy not only through military and security ways, pointing out that Egypt always supports political solutions in order to solve any crisis. For his part, Indonesian President stressed on the importance of clarifying the true image of Islamic religion as well as showing its real values in order to confront terrorism and extremism. On the regional level, the talks held by Sisi and Widodo showed that Egypt and Indonesia have the same view about the latest developments of the crises witnessed in several Middle East countries that suffer from terrorism and extremism. Also Sisi's visit to Jakarta confirmed that Egypt and Indonesia will cooperate in several Islamic issues due to Egypt's political major role in the Middle East and Africa region as well as Indonesia's pivotal role in the Southeast Asia region.
