The US dollar exchange rate on the black market rose again against the Egyptian pound by two piasters on Wednesday to register EGP8.01 to the dollar compared to EGP7.99 on the official market. The USD has been fluctuating dramatically in the past six months after remaining stable for a long period at EGP7.14. Officials in Egyptian national banks cited the dollar's shortage in banks and exchange companies under the escalating demand of foreign currency as the reason for the accelerating rise of the dollar.
