Israel Asks Egypt: Stop Move to Monitor Our Nuclear Facilities
Israel has asked Egypt to stop its efforts to advance a resolution to subject Israel's nuclear facilities to international inspection, a motion expected to come up for a vote at the International Atomic Energy Agency's General Conference in two weeks, senior officials in Jerusalem said.

Giant Gas Find Favoring Egypt at Israel's Expense Sparks Selloff
A gas discovery in the eastern Mediterranean that has the potential to transform the region's energy balance in favor of Egypt has thrown the outlook for stocks of Israeli producers into disarray.
The new field, which Eni says is the biggest-ever in the Mediterranean, represents a setback to Israel's vision to export gas for the first time to countries including Egypt, Jordan and the Palestinian territories. In contrast, production from the site -- about 37 percent larger than Leviathan -- may help Egypt bridge a gas shortage that has worsened since the so-called Arab Spring revolt in 2011 forced the country to start importing fuel.

Ambassador, Fahmy's lawyer have ‘positive' meeting with Egypt officials
The day after Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy was sentenced to three years in prison, his lawyer and Canada's ambassador in Cairo met with senior Egyptian cabinet members in an effort to secure his freedom, according to one of Mr. Fahmy's brothers.
Adel Fahmy told The Globe that Ambassador Troy Lulashnyk informed the Fahmy family that he met on Sunday with Justice Minister Ahmed el-Zend and with Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab to officially request that Mohamed Fahmy be pardoned or deported. The ambassador said Amal Clooney, Mr. Fahmy's lawyer, also met with the two Egyptian ministers, Adel Fahmy added.
"What the ambassador told us was that the meetings were positive – not positive in the sense that they got an answer on a solution, but positive in the sense that they got good feedback," he said. "But I don't want to jump to conclusions; nothing is certain."

Egypt Targets Hamas: Cairo Building Fish Farms To Stop Use Of Gaza Strip Smuggling Tunnels
Egypt's military is digging holes near the country's border with the Gaza Strip for a military-operated fish farm, which would end the use of the tunnels smugglers have used since the Islamic militant group Hamas took control of Gaza in 2007, the Associated Press reported. Egypt put up with the smuggling for years, but the filling in of these tunnels with water would end that tolerance.
The 18 fisheries will take up about nine miles along the Egypt-Gaza border, and will be used to grow mullet and shrimp, taking over a previous plan to build a small canal in the area, which officials later said would flood the border. Construction began about a week ago, and is already having an effect on some smugglers. One smuggler told the AP he had to pay $10,000 to smuggle $6,000 of motorcycle parts into Gaza because smuggling is now riskier.
