Sixteen Egyptian were referred to trial by Attorney General over charges of affiliating to Islamic State group (IS) and forming a local terrorist cell, Sky News Arabia reported on Saturday. According to the new anti-terrorism law issued by Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on August, the defendants will face death sentence. The terrorist cell was led by a former Egyptian police officer who planned to overthrow the regime, Judicial source said. The first trial session is scheduled to be held on Sept. 15 in a Sharqia terrorism-specialized court.
