OIC condemns Duma massacre in Damascus suburb
Published in Albawaba on 19 - 08 - 2015

The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, has strongly condemned the massacre perpetrated by the Syrian air force on a crowded popular market in the village of Duma and other areas of the Damascus suburb in which hundreds of innocent civilians were killed and wounded.
OIC Secretary-General, Iyad Ameen Madani, condemned the continuous killings targeting civilians and the use of internationally proscribed bombs in a statement. He called on the international community to take urgent measures to stop the continuous bloodshed in Syria and protect the Syrian people.
The Secretary-General reiterated the support of the OIC for the legitimate demands of the Syrian people and called on the Syrian regime to desist from the use of the means of war, extermination and torture against its own citizens. He underscored the OIC's support for all regional and international initiatives to find a political solution to the crisis that will end the suffering of the Syrian people, stop the killing and destruction, and meet the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, justice and equality. "This should be through the implementation of the Geneva 1 meeting communique of 30th June 2012, which emphasises facilitation of the commencement of a political process that will lead to a transition process that meet the legitimate aspiration of the Syrian people and enable them to decide their future independently and democratically," the Secretary-General said, and called on the countries still supplying the illegitimate regime in Syria with arms, to stop empowering a regime that continues to murder its citizens and destroys what has remained of Syria.
