The Egyptian army killed 15 militants during a military pre-emptive raid witnessed in North Sinai's Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah cities on Friday, Al Bawaba News reported. Security sources said that the army had launched several airstrikes targeting terrorist hideouts in Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah after the army received information that the militants plan to launch attacks on military checkpoints. The sources added that 15 militants were killed in the army airstrikes, pointing out that 25 others were wounded. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against terrorists groups in Sinai after they claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel.
