The hashtag "#newsuezcanal" was trending on Twitter Thursday with users doing their best to express their pleasure and optimism with the mega national project.
The #newsuezcanal was trending all over Twitter with pictures of the opening ceremony which was attended by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and a number of world leaders.
Egyptians used the trend to show support for the inauguration of the new canal, signaling the beginning of a new era of development in the country.
The new project was praised by a large number of economic and investment experts who described it as a turning point in Egypt's economy.
