The Egyptian-Russian Business Council chairman, Shamel Mikael Orlov predicted that the revenues of the New Suez Canal would reach $17 bln, Al-Bawaba News reported Sunday. Following a meeting held in Cairo, Orlov said that the New Suez Canal sends an international message in the 21st century similar to that sent in the 19th century indicating that Egypt has been an essential partner in global trade development. The Suez Canal makes % 10 of global maritime trade; the New canal will create a kind of accelerated liquidity and efficiency in the commercial transportation process, Orlov added. He said that the new Canal project would provide several opportunities for cooperation between Egypt and Russia in light of their bilateral positive relations.
