Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam received Sunday a phone call from Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to review developments of Lebanon's cabinet crisis, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Badr Abdel Atty said. Abdel Atty added that Shoukry stressed the importance of boosting the Lebanese government and parliament and to Keep Lebanon away from the deterioration of the regional situation. Shoukry draw the Lebanese official's attention to the necessity of holding the presidential election as soon as possible to restore the paralyzed state institutions in the context of peace coexistence between all political and social powers. The cabinet crisis grew early June when the Free Patriotic Movement's Minister Gebran Bassil bickered with Salam during a session after accusing him of infringing on the Christian president's powers in the absence of a head of state. The cabinet has been paralyzed since then. FPM ministers have warned they would boycott any session whose agenda is not topped by the appointments.
