Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry praised the Saudi role in the Middle East, describing it as the main guarantee to ensure the regional balance, Al Bawaba News reported on Thursday. The Egyptian official stressed that Egypt and Saudi Arabia have the same vision to the different challenges witnessed in the region, including the ways to deal with the terrorist threat. Shoukry stressed Egypt's keenness to cooperate with Saudi Arabia and to strengthen the strategic relations between the two countries during the coming period. On the other hand, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jabir said that the recent visit conducted by Hamas' leader Khaled Mashaal was not a formal visit, saying that it was not a political visit while to perform Umrah. He added that Mashaal did not conduct any meetings with the Saudi official, while they congratulated King Salman on Eid Al Fitr during their visit. He added that they did not discuss any political issues during the meeting. The Saudi official stressed that their position from Hamas has not witnessed any change, expressing support for the Palestinian Authority and Egypt's efforts to protect its internal security.
